THE EXECUTIVE BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF
THE HILLTOP & KELFORD SCHOOLS FEDERATION

8th March 2016

Dear parents/carers,

My name is Steve Booth, and I am a co-opted governor, having previously served on Kelford School’s Local Governing Body and the Hilltop and Kelford Executive Board of Governors.

I am 65 years old; I live in Swinton with my wife Marilyn; and I am retired. Prior to retirement, I was the Chief Executive of young-person focused charity, Young Enterprise (Yorkshire & Humber division). Prior to working for Young Enterprise, I spent over 30 years working in the banking sector.
As part of our conversion into a Multi-Academy Trust (aiming to be May 1st 2016), Governors have chosen to re-elect all chairs of the Local Governing Bodies, so that we have stability of leadership pre and post conversion. Chairs of local governing bodies will qualify as Directors of the Multi Academy Trust (voluntary position!), so I will be ideally placed to act as a staunch advocate for Hilltop School in our governance arrangements whilst helping shape the development and growth of the new Multi Academy Trust.

I am really excited to be working with a team of such long serving and dedicated governors: it is truly remarkable that so many members of the governing body at Hilltop either have or had children attend the school itself: for me, this means the voice of parents and carers is prominent in the governance of the school.

I recently attended the Salsa night organised by Hilltop staff, which was great fun, and I plan on spending as much time as possible in the school over the coming weeks and months, getting to know children and staff and becoming acclimatised to the fantastic environment that is Hilltop School!
Should any parent or carer wish to contact me, my email address is SteveBooth1950@gmail.com.
Alternatively, messages and mail can be passed to me via the school office.

Yours faithfully,

Steve Booth

Chair – Hilltop Local Governing Body
