K.S.1 , K.S.2 & K.S.3 Classes
Pupils are gradually encouraged to increase the amount of responsibility taken for their actions,
work and possessions.
We endeavour to develop decision making, problem solving, perseverance, confidence, individuality
and independence.
There are opportunities to be included in the wider school environment -
Taking part in whole school assemblies, themed ‘topic’ weeks, concerts, nativity, panto, school cafés, dance, R.E. and P.E.
Promoting route finding around school and in the local community.
Mini bus inclusion visits into the local and wider community.
We are actively developing inclusion opportunities with Redwood school to extend our inclusive early years
and Key Stage One provision, again taking into account the needs of our individual pupils.
After school clubs covering a range of activities e.g. art activities, drama, physical activities,
run one night a week.
School club days are offered in the summer holiday.
We are just beginning to create ‘pathways’ of learning for some of our students beginning with those with
the most complex needs working between P1 and P4.
We have the flexibility to offer low arousal classrooms for some pupils which are particularly suited to pupils with autistic spectrum conditions.
We also have purpose built classrooms with overhead hoist tracking particularly suited to pupils with moving, handling and positioning needs.
Reading – a specific intervention team to focus on reading and literacy skills. This is based around Oxford Reading Tree.
Phonics – we are working this year with Kelford school to agree a phonics scheme and approach between the two schools.
