Pathways
At Hilltop we are in the process of developing a series of Assessment Pathways which will help us to accurately track and evaluate thespecific development journeys of all our students.
Historically all students we assessed using the B2 Assessment Tool – although this tool is effective in capturing the progress of some of our students we feel it does not accurately reflect the development of others with specific complex needs.
Therefore after working closely with colleagues at Kelford School we have introduced the Pathway model.
Green Pathway
This is for students working at between P3 and P8. They are assessed using the B2 Assessment tool and the
schools data can be compared with other students nationally using CASPA
Yellow Pathway
This is for students working below P3 with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities.
The assessment tools employed for these students are Routes for Learning and MAPP
Blue Pathway
This is a developing Pathway and we are currently trialling a couple of assessment tools to help us capture the
progress of our more complex students with Autism.
Currently data is being collated using the AET (Autism Education Trust) Assessment Framework and SCERTS
(Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support) Framework.
Orange Pathway
This Pathway is also currently in its infancy and it is for any students who is working above P8 and therefore at
National Curriculum level in any area of the curriculum.
We are mapping their progress using ARE (Age Related Expectations) Framework.
As part of the schools moderation cycle we are comparing the data from the 4 Pathways with other schools within the MAT, within the local Authority and Nationally.
