Sports Premium Funding 2019-20
The government provided additional funding of £150 million per annum for the academic years 2013 onward to improve the provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. The funding has been provided to promote and encourage children to participate in a range of physical activity both in and out of school in order to prevent concerning statistics in relation to obesity coming to fruition. PE and Sport Premium funding has been provided jointly by the Department for Education, the Department for Health and Culture and the Department for Media and Sport. It has been allocated to primary school Headteachers and is ring-fenced to be spent on the provision of PE and sport in schools.
Hilltop School will receive at least £16,000 of funding for the academic year 2019-20.
The additional funding has been used to improve the quality and breadth of experiences and learning opportunities for our children and young people to increase exercise, access to physical activity and specialist teaching. This has enabled them to participate in sporting competitions and regional experiences including the English Institute of Sport inter-school sports day, Kielder Challenge, Panathlon, and Girls in Sport.
