Summer School Safeguarding Procedure

During the 5 week holiday period we are running a programme of Summer School activities.
During this time if you are working with our students and you have any Safeguarding concerns then you must follow the correct procedure to ensure their continued safety.

Fill in the appropriate paper work for the following incidents

VERBAL OR RACIAL ABUSE –
We record any intentional racist, sexist, homophobic or offensive intentional verbal abuse aimed at another person

VIOLENCE TO PUPIL –We record violence aimed towards a pupil by another pupil - violence is defined as any physical assault, verbal abuse, threatening gestures, sexual abuse/harassment, being struck by a missile. Please inform parents if this has occurred.

VIOLENCE TO STAFF – We record any violence aimed towards Staff – violence is defined as any physical assault, verbal abuse, threatening gestures, sexual abuse/harassment, being struck by a missile.

INJURY TO PUPIL OR STAFF – this is defined when contact is made to a staff by a pupil (or missile thrown by the pupil). It is up to the individual member of staff involved to establish the level of intent of the assault and the degree of severity. Please inform parents if this has occurred.

RPI – The use of a Restrictive Physical Intervention used to support a child in crisis as a last resort.
RPIs are used to prevent harm to others, self-harm, damage to property, absconding and to stop anything illegal taking place.

All recording sheets will be monitored by the designated member of SLT during the week.

If you have any CAUSE FOR CONCERN such as marks or bruises on a student, a significant change in their behaviour and emotional state or any signs of neglect and abuse then fill in the appropriate recording sheets along with body maps and report to the designated member of SLT immediately.

During the 5 weeks the designated member of SLT are as follows

Week 1 Monday 30th July - Friday 3rd August Amanda France 07788974861

Week 2 Monday 6th August – Friday 10th August David Burdett 07884962944

Week 3 Monday 13th August – Friday 17th August Claire Rose 07890736065

Week 4 Monday 20th August – Friday 24th August Chris Hodgkinson 07868740520

Week 5 Monday 27th August – Friday 1st September Rob Mulvey 07780953614

If for any reason you are unable to contact the designated member of SLT on that week then try the other 4 members of senior management.

If you have any major concerns and in the highly unlikely event that you are unable to get hold of anyone from SLT then please report your concerns to the MASH team – (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) 01709 336080
